CLOSER is a design platform and store for furniture and interior objects. In our gallery, based in the Munich meat packing destrict, we exhibit, sell and design. We also do styling and consulting for fashion, interior and lifestyle brands.
Contemporary design is presented next to vintage, art next to everyday items, minimum next to maximum. In different exhibitions we feature topics that are an expression of our times. We provide a stage for modern designers and show their work, bold and new. We also sell our own re-designed items. We re-think the familiar and proven, beautiful and oblique, we combine it and move it into a new context.
In a volatile world, we need things that provide stability and values, that tell our story and show who we are.
Simona Heuberger and Lâle Aktay are passionate about style, living and design. They met during their studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich.
After studying art history in Munich and London Simona was Editor for Architectural Digest. She writes books about design and style and works regularly for the design issues of the magazin of the Süddeusche Zeitung. She teaches design theory at the Academy of Fashion and Design in Munich.
Lâle Aktay studied art history and architecture in Munich. Since 2001 she has been working as a fashion editor, from 2010 untill 2013 she was editor in chief of L’Officiel Hommes Germany. She is a freelance editor and stylist, as a designer she re-designes furniture and objects from old and new items.
